The PA Companies With The Biggest Layoffs And Closures In 2022

Thousands lost their job in the biggest layoffs and closures in Pennsylvania in 2022. Here were some of the biggest.

PENNSYLVANIA — As the economy suffered and inflation skyrocketed over the past it year, no one felt it harder than average workers in Pennsylvania.

Thousands lost their job in a series of layoffs to major employees across the state.

Pittsburgh-based autonomous driving technology company Argo AI shut down in October after losing more than $800 million in the third quarter, according to announcements from its owners, Ford and Volkswagen. A total of 679 employees lost their job.

Legislation has since been passed to protect the future of the autonomous driving industry and workers in Pennsylvania.

A total of 18 different companies had closures or layoffs in 2022 that impacted at least 100 employees. Seven of them impacted more than 300 employees.
