Allentown on trial: Officials testify as discrimination lawsuit hits federal court (lehighvalleypublicmedia.org) — Allentown's mayor is defending his decision to fire former HR official Karen Ocasio in a federal discrimination trial now being heard just steps from City Hall. Jurors are weighing whether her 2023 termination, which helped spark a council no-confidence vote, was retaliation for raising race-related complaints or a response to workplace problems documented in an outside investigation.
   

2. Opening of The Standard in the former Morning Call building (mcall.com) — A major new housing option just opened in downtown Allentown as City Center Group cut the ribbon on The Standard, a 257-apartment building on the former Morning Call site. Mayor Matt Tuerk joined developers and local leaders to mark the company's 15th residential project downtown, signaling continued investment and more living space in the city's core.

The report, which also puts Philadelphia at No. 4, urges residents with asthma to stay on top of inhaler use, vaccinations and air quality at home as peak respiratory season ramps up.
