Clean Out Your Closests With Lower Merion's Free Cleanup Weekend
Got stuff collecting dust? Get rid of it free of charge Saturday and Sunday.

We've all heard of spring cleaning, but autumn cleaning? Yes it's real and Lower Merion Township wants to help you get rid of the junk piling up at home this weekend through its free Cleanup Weekend event.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Oct. 8 and Sunday Oct. 9, the Lower Merion Township Public Works Complex – 1300 N Woodbine Ave., Penn Valley – will be taking all kinds of junk including household appliances, textiles, plastic, glass, newsprint, and plain old trash to dispose of for free.
Items such as bikes, furniture, toys, and clothing will be collected by nonprofit organizations Neighborhood Bike Works and Harmonious Volunteer Center

To take advantage of the Cleanup Weekend, you must show proof of residence in the township. Recyclable and garbage must be separated, as well.
Township crews will be onsite to help residents unload their junk.

No hazardous waste, such as motor oil, antifreeze, turpentine, furniture stripper, household pesticides, drain and oven cleaners, and items like swimming pool chemicals, will be accepted during the Cleanup Weekend, according to the township website.
However, the townships will hold a household hazardous waste collection day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Lower Merion Public Works Complex.The household hazardous waste collection program is sponsored by Montgomery County. Montgomery County sponsors collection sites for safe Disposal of household hazardous waste. Call 610-278-3618 for more information on disposing hazardous waste.
