Main Line Armed Robbery, Burglary On New Year's Eve

Armed men tied a family up then robbed their Haverford home and business, and a pair in a stolen car broke into a Wayne store.

MAIN LINE, PA — The Main Line was a target for criminals on New Year's Eve, with one police department reporting an armed robbery and another reporting a commecial burglary.

According to Haverford Police, a family was tied up at gunpoint and had their business and home ransacked by three masked men at about 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

The victim, owner of Fiji Nail Salon on the 100 block of West Eagle Road in Haverford, was rushed by the masked men armed with guns and forced to unlock his business and residence, police said.

The men tied up the victim and his family and ransacked the business and home, taking cash and jewelry.

Police said the victim suffered injuries to his head and face in the armed robbery, but was released from the hospital after treatment.

One suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing gloves, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and Timberland-style boots with a mask covering half his face. Another was also described as about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing gloves, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark boots, and was wearing eyeglasses. The third suspect was also described as about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing eyeglasses, dark pants, sneakers, and a black hooded jacket.

All were armed with semi-automatic handguns, police said.

And on the morning of New Year's Eve, a man and woman in a stolen BMW broke into a Wayne business and stole various items.

Radnor Police said the break in occurred at about 8 a.m. on Dec. 31 at a business on the 500 block of East Lancaster Avenue in Wayne.

A man and woman pried the front door open then stole fur coats, jewelry, and cash before leaving in a BMA that was stolen out of New York City. The vehicle has a New York State license place reading GHW-4779.

The man was wearing a silver coat with a hood and the woman was wearing a dark coat with fur around the hood.
