Lower Merion Fords, Fields Closed After Heavy Rains
After heavy rains battered the Philadelphia region Sunday night and Monday morning, Lower Merion Township is closing its fields and fords.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – After heavy rains battered the Philadelphia region Sunday night and Monday morning, Lower Merion Township said its fords and fields are closed.
The two fords at Old Gulph Road and Righters Mill Road closed Monday and will remain closed through Tuesday morning, according to the township.
According to the National Weather Service, nearly half of all flash flood deaths are vehicle related and the national 30-year average for flood deaths is 127.

The township's fields are:
- Bala Cynwyd Park
- Gladwyne Park
- General Wayne Park
- McMoran Park
- Penn Wynne Park
- Polo Field
- Richie Ashburn Field
- South Ardmore Park
- Vernon V. Young Memorial Park
