Main Line Police Warn Of Blackmail Scheme Making Rounds

Scammers have been saying they have dirt on the victims and demand money to keep the information hush. Don't fall for it, police say.

A Main Line police department is warning area residents of a blackmail-type scheme making rounds and is urging the public to not give up personal information or money to the scammers.

Police in Easttown Township said a new scam alleges to have "evidence of something you have been hiding" and demand $2,500 in Bitcoin, an online digital currency.

The sender will either call, mail a letter, or send an email to the victim saying they have dirt on the victim, police said.
