Man Charged In Crash That Killed Main Line Principal
Azuka Ossai, 54, of Pine Hill, N.J., is accused of speeding through a stop sign, striking the late principal's vehicle and killing him.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A New Jersey man has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with the November 2021 crash that killed Lower Merion High School Principal Sean Hughes and injured his son.
Authorities in Camden County and Winslow Township, New Jersey said Azuka Ossai, 54, of Pine Hill, N.J. was arrested on March 10 and charged with second degree vehicular homicide by operating a vehicle recklessly and fourth degree assault by auto.
According to authorities, officers were called to the intersection of Fleming Pike and Hays Road in Winslow Township, New Jersey at about 7:28 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2021.

Police found a Mercedes SUV and Ford SUV at the scene.
Hughes, 51 and a longtime beloved principal at Lower Merion High School, was driving the Ford and suffered serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at about 10:19 a.m. that day. Hughes's son was also seriously hurt in the crash, authorities said.

Through an investigation, authorities determined Ossai drove through a stop sign in the Mercedes, striking the Ford driven by Hughes.
Authorities also said Ossai was speeding.
Ossai was processed on the charges and released the same day pending court, authorities said.
