Radiation Sensors Change Lower Merion Transfer Station Traffic
With the new radiation detection system in place, those entering the transfer station have some new traffic rules to follow.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Lower Merion Township residents visiting the Township Transfer Station in Penn Valley should be aware of a new traffic flow at the station, as the township has recently installed a new radiation detection system at the station.
The new system requires vehicles to come to a complete stop at stop signs installed at the transfer station's entrance.
Vehicles then drive between the two radiation sensors at 5 miles per hour so the sensors can scan the vehicle, according to the township.

Should antsy drivers go faster than 5 miles per hour through the sensors, an alarm will sound and the driver will have to back up and go between the sensors again at a slower speed, the township said.
What if there's a line behind you and your speed sets off the alarm? Then it's back to the line with you.
