Bala Cynwyd Woman in Hospital After Fire

The Stoneway Lane resident was being treated for smoke inhalation, a deputy fire marshal said.

A Bala Cynwyd resident was hospitalized through the weekend after a kitchen fire Saturday night, Lower Merion Deputy Fire Marshal Jim McCoy told Patch Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Stoneway Lane about 8 p.m., after a neighbor heard a smoke detector and a woman calling for help. A Lower Merion police officer rescued the woman from her house, which sustained damage to the stove, cabinet and kitchen floor, McCoy said.

Narberth Ambulance took the unidentified victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was treated for smoke inhalation.
