This popular science fiction story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where people are divided into distinct factions dedicated to the cultivation of 5 particular human values of either Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful) or Erudite (the intelligent). On Choosing Day, 16 year olds must decide which faction to devote their lives to or remain with their families.
