Edgar and Sonny Hill

Edgar was on the radio this morning, talking to Sonny Hill (94WIP) about Emlen Tunnell (a graduate of Radnor High School).  They were reminiscing about trailblazers and Black History Month.  Sonny Hill complimented Edgar on his knowledge of history.  Edgar prodded Sonny Hill for personal recollections of Emlen Tunnell and Sonny Hill said that Emlen Tunnell was one of the smartest players that ever lived.

During the course of their conversation, Sonny Hill told how Johnny Sample helped Joe Namath and the NY Jets win the third NFL/AFL championship game and upset the 16-point favorite Baltimore Colts.  Sample (the Blade) told Namath to go to the library and study the game tapes.  That Unitas always used the same plays.

Hill's contention is that if the "upstart" NY Jets had lost this game, there would be no more "interleague" games and never any "Super Bowls."
