Penn Wynne Winter Concert

Choral concert by the Penn Wynne singers was wonderful.

What a delightful experience we had this morning. Edgar and I attended the Winter Concert at the , presented by the Penn Wynne Singers—those darling students in 4th and 5th grades. The selection of 7 numbers included "Come Hear the Band," "Erie Canal Boogie," and "It's Snow Wonder."

The Director, Mrs. Barbara Humes, encouraged all the children to sing without effort, to reach the high notes in tune, to harmonize, to sing in a round, and to enjoy what they are doing. Their enthusiasm and delight swept over the audience of K-5 students, a smattering of parents and grandparents, and school administration people.

The students rehearse every Monday morning and will continue through the school year, in preparation for the Spring Concert.

Mrs. Hume did not take the easy way out in selecting the music for the program.  She did not go to an arrangement book put out by one or two arrangers. Instead, every one of the seven different songs was arranged by different people. And the music for the winter concert did not include anything with religious overtones. What a relief! We truly enjoyed ourselves this morning.

Thank you!
