Emergency Crews Help Fallen Roofer in Penn Valley

The unidentified man fell about 20 feet during a construction job.

A worker on a home-renovation job in Penn Valley fell about 20 feet into a trench late Monday morning, prompting fire and emergency crews from and to come to his aid, Chief Fire Officer Charles McGarvey said.

The accident happened about 11:30 a.m. The contractor from the Cinnaminson, NJ area tumbled from a ladder against the home addition on the 500 block of Fairview Road, said project manager Lew Lutner from the Exton-based building company Corner 2 Corner.

Lutner declined to identify the victim, and McGarvey said he did not have the name available. But both said his known injuries were limited to a bump on the head and a cut behind the ear. The conscious man was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a precaution.

"You know construction workers, we tend to want to rub sawdust on it and keep working," Lutner said. "But we figured better safe then sorry."
