Police Activity: Bala Cynwyd Crashes, Fires, Thefts

Townshipwide, Lower Merion police responded to 672 incidents in a week.

 police responded to more DUIs but fewer burglaries than usual in the week ending Sunday, department records show.

Overall, the department received 672 calls for service from Oct. 17 through Oct. 23, after weeks of , ,  and  incidents, according to a weekly report posted on the township's website.

  • 1 criminal mischief case
  • 1 death investigation (Friday on Presidential Boulevard)
  • 4 disorderly conduct cases (one Sunday at City and Bala avenues)
  • 1 drug overdose
  • 1 arrest for drug possession
  • 7 DUI cases ()
  • 5 fires (two in Bala Cynwyd, including one on Righters Ferry Road)
  • 3 fraud cases
  • 11 car accidents with injuries (two in Bala Cynwyd)
  • 32 car accidents with property damage (six in Bala Cynwyd)
  • 6 cases of public intoxication
  • 2 simple assaults (one just before noon Saturday on City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd)
  • 14 thefts (7 in Bala Cynwyd, including several retail thefts, a stolen bicycle and a theft from a vehicle)
