Police Blotter: $590 Belt Theft Fails at Sak's
A 23-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion Township police reported the following crimes from the past week in the Bala Cynwyd area:
Michael Goodwater, 23, of the 6500 block of Reedland Street in Philadelphia was arrested about 3 p.m. Feb. 28 on suspicion of attempted theft from on City Avenue.
According to police, Goodwater visited the dressing room with two Gucci belts worth a combined $590. He removed the security sensors and hid the belts in the clothes he wore, but store security apprehended him before he left the store.

Goodwater gave authorities a variety of false names and ages before his fingerprint match turned up his true identity. He was charged with retail theft and released on $5,000 bail.
Police also reported that between 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. March 4, someone broke out the driver's side window of a car parked on the 100 block of Bala Avenue. The vehicle belonged to someone working out at nearby. Her purse, worth $100, and about $300 in cash were taken.
