Police Blotter: AT&T Employee Repels Armed Robber

No one was hurt and nothing was stolen in the March 28 incident on City Avenue, police said.

Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police disclosed three Bala Cynwyd-area incidents from last week.

A robbery was reported at the AT&T store at 37 E. City Ave. in Bala at 7:30 a.m. March 28, police said. A man approached employees who were entering the store and pointed a gun at them.

One employee fought back and pushed the man out of the store. The suspect fled without getting anything from the store, police said.

The man is described as a clean-shaven black man between 18 and 25 years old with dark clothing.

Public drunkenness: Police responded to a report of a possible burglary near Welsh Valley Middle School at 4:48 a.m. March 31.

A man was riding his bike around the circle in the parking lot there, and police stopped him because he was on school property. Police said the man was bleeding and soaking wet.

The man said he was trying to get back to Lester, PA, and was intoxicated to a degree he was a danger to himself, police said. Anthony Stecyk, 21, of Mohican Street in Lester, Delaware County, was cited with public drunkenness.

Public drunkenness: Police responded to a report of someone refusing to pay cab fare at 2:49 a.m. on April 1 at 169 W. City Ave.

The cab driver told police he picked the woman up in Philadelphia and was driving her to St. Joe’s campus. The woman had thrown up in the car, and the cab driver wanted payment for cleanup, police said.

Anastasia Grottola, 20, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, was intoxicated to a degree she was a danger to herself and was taken to Lankenau Hospital for treatment, police said. Grottola was cited with public drunkenness and with underaged drinking.
