Police Blotter: Wheels Stolen Off Car in Bala Cynwyd Driveway

Lower Merion officers responded to the following incidents last week in the Bala Cynwyd area, according to police reports Monday afternoon:

• Retail theft: Police said they responded to a report of a retail theft at the on Conshohocken State Road in Bala Cynwyd at 3:58 a.m. Tuesday. Police discovered a man nearby with a number of Hershey bars in his hands, and said he was under the influence of drugs and was a danger to himself.
• DUI: Police said they responded to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of City Avenue and Wynnewood Road at 1:57 a.m. Wednesday. Police found a blue Subaru Forester overturned on its side in the southbound lane, and a driver failed a field sobriety test. Police said the driver, William Chinburg, 21, of the 500 block of Rockavon Road in Narberth, had a blood-alcohol content of .16 and was charged with driving under the influence.
• DUI: Also at the intersection of City Avenue and Wynnewood Road, police were at the scene of the 1:57 a.m. accident when at 2:41 a.m. another vehicle, a gray Nissan Altima, was approaching the accident scene with a flat tire making a lot of noise. Police said the driver failed a field sobriety test and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .18. Police charged the driver, Brittany Romano, 20, of the 200 block of Lippincott Avenue in Ardmore, with driving under the influence.
• Theft: Police said the wheels and tires were stolen from a Mazda CX-9 parked in a driveway on the unit block of East Newfield Way in Bala Cynwyd overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. All four wheels and tires, valued at $2,000, were stolen, police said.
• Burglary: Police said a resident of the unit block of Ashland Avenue in Belmont Hills  arrived home at 8 p.m. Wednesday to discover a rear kitchen door was broken. The resident had been out of the house since 2:30 p.m. that afternoon and said the bedroom appeared ransacked and called police. About $5,000 in jewelry was stolen, police said.
