Police: Woman Robbed, Assaulted on Bala Avenue

An unidentified man shoved a woman to the ground and ran off with her purse early Sunday morning on Bala Avenue near City Avenue, Lower Merion police said Monday.

About 2:45 a.m., the victim left an unidentified City Avenue business and began walking home along Bala Avenue. A couple minutes later, she was knocked to the ground from behind, and a man took her purse and ran back toward City Avenue, police said.

The victim chased but couldn't catch up with the suspect or see him well enough to give a full description, police said. She then went home and called police; she was not treated for any injuries.

The Tory Burch leather bag contained a Gucci wallet, credit cards, an iPhone and $10 in cash, police said.
