Grab your walking taco and your Swedish fish; it’s time for another exciting softball update. Baldwin’s 8U girls clinched the title of champion by dominating the Robinson tournament with big hits, fast runs and nearly perfect fielding. With their gloves down and dirty, these girls went undefeated for a total of 6 games in this tournament, leading them to the final game on Sunday evening under the lights. Baldwin scored an unbelievable 42 runs and allowed only 8 in their first 3 games for seeding, shutting down their opponents with a storm of thunderous bats and lightening-fast hands. In the final showdown for the championship and seeded 2nd, Baldwin emerged victorious in a 13 to 8 win over Kennedy. Inning by inning, the Baldwin supporters remained on the edge of their seats, watching the action unfold with heart-pounding excitement. After the third out in the bottom of the 6th, the crowd was on their feet, as the Baldwin girls celebrated their victory in a huge team pileup, followed by lots of hugs and many pictures with a trophy almost as big as some of the players. It was an unforgettable night and a victory that I am sure these girls will savor for quite some time. 8U All-Star Manager, Michael Crough states, “I never saw such big hearts from 8 and 9-year-old girls; battling through rain delays, 9 other worthy opponents and 90-degree temperatures. To overcome all of that and win that tournament was inspirational. I’m looking forward to competing with our girls at the Kennedy tournament as well as our own tournament, in front of our home fans at the end of July.” Congratulations to our Baldwin 8Us. You are fierce competitors and true champions! Next up for Baldwin 8U: Kennedy tournament this upcoming weekend. Good luck girls and keep showing us the power of purple!!

They began their tournament in the winner’s bracket, beating Bethel Park on Thursday night and Oakdale on Friday night. On Saturday, they lost to South Fayette. With that, they fought to get to the championship game on Sunday but finally succumbed to Oakdale in the heat. 10U All-Star Manager, Tim Conlan states, “Our girls can play with any team in the area.
