ATV Complaints Topping 2022 Tally In Bensalem
Since instituting a "zero tolerance" policy, Bensalem Police have received 30 of 73 complaints about illegal riders since June 1.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —One day after a man was seriously injured after being run over by a dirt bike twice, another dirt bike rider was causing trouble in the township.
Last Sunday night, Bensalem Township Police reported that someone riding an "unregistered motorcycle" was popping wheelies, running stop signs, and creating a danger to Eddington residents.
So far this year to date, police have received 73 ATV complaints. That's almost topped the 75 complaints in 2022, Sgt. Glenn Vandegrift said.

On June 1, the police department instituted a "zero tolerance" crackdown on illegal motorcycles and ATVs. Police said it was going after motorcycles and ATVs that illegally ride on private property and roadways throughout the township.
“Bensalem Police are committed to keeping our residents safe from the motorcycle and ATV riders that ride on the roadways of Bensalem Township illegally," Vandegrift said. "Along with our directed patrols, we will continue to follow up on any complaints that we receive from residents of this type of illegal activity."

Since the start of the "zero tolerance" policy, 30 of the 73 complaints have been reported, Vandegrift said.
He said police have identified six illegal motorcycle/dirt bike riders utilizing the public's help on social media and have towed four illegal motorcycles/dirt bikes since June 1.
Vandegrift said the high-volume areas for illegal motorcycle complaints are on or near Grove Avenue in Trevose and the township's Eddington section.
That's where the incident happened just after 6 p.m. last Sunday.
After the biker drove south on Hulmeville Road, he failed to yield to the emergency lights and sirens of fire vehicles that were en route to a house fire, police said.
Police are seeking the rider.
They said the motorcycle is black or silver with a loud exhaust and blue rims.
The rider is a heavyset man, possibly in his late teens or early 20s, wearing black shorts and a bright yellow shirt with cutoff sleeves and an unknown logo on the back.
Anyone with information about the rider or the location of this motorcycle, please submit an anonymous tip to CrimeWatch or contact Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719.
Bensalem Police are still seeking two dirt bike riders involved in an incident Saturday night in which a man suffered serious injuries after being intentionally run over twice.
Bensalem Police are investigating the aggravated assault of the 64-year-old man at 7:50 p.m. Saturday on the 1600 block of Neshaminy Valley Drive after the pedestrian had been struck by an illegal dirt bike.
