"The Bensalem Township Police Department is honored to have received this recognition and pledges to operate at the highest level of standards as established through CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation. Since its inception, the CALEA Accreditation program has become the primary method for an agency to voluntarily demonstrate their commitment to excellence in law enforcement," the department said in an announcement.
CALEA has established 1,500 professional standards and the Bensalem Police Department has met and adhered to all established standards. To maintain accredited status, Bensalem Police must produce two proofs of compliance for each standard annually, the department said.
