Bensalem School Board Elections: Results

Three incumbents have bowed out, opening up room for change on the Bensalem Township School Board.

BENSALEM, PA — The Bensalem Township school board will have a different look next year based on Tuesday night's election results.

Three incumbents on the five-member board have opted not to seek re-election. Their departures paved the way for an election that sees two incumbents and eight newcomers seeking the school board's five seats.

On the Democratic side, the top five finishers were all newcomers: Rebecca Mirra, Heather Ody-Snyder, Jaime Devery, Scott Endicter and Royce McKelvey.

All the candidates in the race cross-filed to run as both Democrats and Republicans except for Price, who filed only to run as a Republican. Voters in Bensalem will select five candidates for the at-large positions.

Finances, including a potential school-tax increase, were front and center for most candidates in the race. Voting comes on the heels of the school board and the teachers' union in Bensalem finally settling a long-running contract dispute.
