Bensalem Senior Named Commended Student By National Merit Program
Congratulations to Bensalem High School senior Hetvi P. Patel, who has been named a Commended Student by the National Merit program.

Bensalem High School senior Hetvi P. Patel has been named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Commended students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry, according to information from the school district.
"They are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states," according to an announcement from the Bensalem Township School District.

Hetvi has been a principal’s list honor roll student throughout high school.
She is a member of Community Service Club, National Honor Society, Science Olympiads, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), Mock Trial, Student Government Association, Class of 2017 Activities Committee, and Multicultural Club. She also serves as a Student School Board member. She enjoys volunteering with the American Red Cross, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and running. She plans to attend college and major in biology and go into the field of medicine.

"Bensalem Township School District is extremely proud of the accomplishments of our academically talented young adults and congratulates Hetvi on this outstanding achievement," the district said.
Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, however, Hetvi will be recognized at the Bensalem Township School Board meeting on Oct. 26.
