Building Fire Closes Street Road In Both Directions

Bensalem Fire Rescue said the fire was contained in an hour Wednesday morning. The building was being demolished.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A building that is being demolished suffered heavy smoke damage that closed Street Road in both directions Wednesday, fire officials said.

Bensalem fire crews responded at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to 4151 Street Road for a building fire.

Special Service 222 arrived on the scene and reported heavy fire showing from a building being demolished. Engine 222 went in-service with a deck gun as Rescue 4 established a water supply.

The building was previously occupied by Abbott & Cobb, fire officials said.

Battalion 222 established Bensalem Command and reported heavy fire in the rear portion of the building and placed Tower 16, Ladder 65, and Tower 8 in-service with exterior operation.

Crews from Engine 1, Engine 6 and Engine 44 assisted and Rescue 2 was also assigned.

During the incident, Street Road was closed in both directions. The incident was placed under control at 10:08 a.m. and no injuries were reported.

Battalion Chief Rob Sponheimer determined the cause of the fire to be accidental in nature.
