Teens Accused Of Shooting Man During Drug Deal In Bensalem

One accused shooter is under arrest and another teen is being sought by Bensalem Police after the shooting at apartments Thursday evening.

BENSALEM, PA — One teen is under arrest and police are searching for a second after they say a Bensalem man was shot in the leg during a drug deal gone bad on Thursday.

At about 7:45 p.m., Bensalem Police were called to Creekside Apartments, at 2500 Knights Rd., to a report of gunshots or fireworks being set off in the complex. While investigating, they got word that a man had arrived at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Investigators learned from the victim that he'd been shot during a drug deal in the parking lot of the apartments.

Police identified the shooter as Trejean Smith and named Emmanuel Rodriguez as a second suspect in the shooting. Both of them are 16 years old and live at Creekside Apartments, police said.

Rodriguez was arrested shortly afterward and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery and recklessly endangering another person. An arrest warrant has been issued for Smith, whom police could not find immediately.
