Last week's school shooting in Florida has put student safety in the forefront. So how do Bensalem schools compare to others across Pennsylvania when it comes to safety?
A recent ranking by data compiler Niche.com reveals the state's safest districts. Bensalem Township School District was ranked 390th out of 497 districts, according to the website, which analyzes various aspects of education and communities.
The list was created using information from the U.S. Department of Education, the FBI, parent reviews and other data, according to Niche. To compile the ranking, 50 percent was based on parent and student surveys on health and safety. Student absenteeism, suspensions and expulsions were also factored into the rankings, well as percentage of students referred to law enforcement and school-related arrests.

Bensalem Township received a B for health and safety from the website.
"I think Bensalem School District is a good place for younger kids to grow up and go to school but, I do not believe the high school is a very good environment for children," one reviewer wrote.

Bucks County districts that were included in the top 100 safest list are Central Bucks, Council Rock, New Hope-Solebury and Neshaminy.
