Security Cameras Equipped On All Bensalem Township School Buses

Safety initiative designed to crack down on motorists who fail to stop, police and school officials said.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —School buses in the Bensalem Township School District this year have a new feature —cameras.

The buses are now equipped with stop-arm enforcement cameras designed to detect vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses, police and school officials announced.

The safety initiative seeks to curb dangerous motorist behavior around school buses and make the journey to and from school safer for all student riders.

The technology was announced at a press conference before the start of the school year by Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, Superintendent Samuel Lee and Director William McVey.

The school district launched the school bus safety program in partnership with the Bensalem Township Police Department to protect our children.

Police warned that all drivers running stop lights on a school bus are subject to serious penalties for the violations.
