United Way Breaks Records With Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive

More than 1,000 backpacks were distributed to human service agencies, the Intermediate Unit, a charter school and all 13 school districts.

United Way of Bucks County’s annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive enjoyed record-breaking success this year.

According to the United Way, 1,079 backpacks were delivered to students in need throughout Bucks County. That’s a 45 percent increase in donations from last year, according to the United Way. The organization attributes the success to their sponsors, Bank of America and Cummins Power Systems, and the generosity of the Bucks County community.

“This is UW Bucks biggest Stuff the Bus drive to date,” the organization said in an announcement.

Backpacks were distributed to 19 human service agencies, the Intermediate Unit, a charter school and offered to all 13 school districts in the county.

“These supplies really make a difference for a child,” explained Danielle Bush, Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement at UW Bucks. “Going to school prepared allows kids to stay organized, have the confidence to ask questions and do better in school. That’s the goal of Stuff the Bus.”
