United Way Launching 'Stuff the Bus' School Supply Drive

The objective is to make sure that all children in Bucks County have the supplies they need to start the school year right.

The United Way of Bucks County will hold its Stuff the Bus school supply drive on Aug. 19 and 20.

Donations will be distributed to local students by UW Bucks’ partner agencies and through all Bucks County school districts. The objective is to make sure that all children have the supplies they need to start the school year right, according to a press release from the local United Way.

Donations can be dropped off at either UW Bucks office, in Fairless Hills (413 Hood Blvd) or Doylestown (455 East Street) between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on both days.

“Education is key to a good quality of life and anything we can do to encourage, support and promote it is a priority,” said United Way of Bucks County CEO Jamie Haddon. “Last year, our Stuff the Bus drive distributed 742 backpacks filled with supplies. That’s over $17,000 worth of school supplies and we still didn’t have enough to meet all of the requests.”

In addition to donations, UW Bucks is also looking for volunteers to help sort supplies and fill backpacks following the collection days. The event will be held on Aug. 21, at Cummins Power Systems in Bristol.
