Work Continues, Lanes Closing On U.S. 1, Street Road

The work is part of a project to rebuild widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of the highway in Bensalem.

BENSALEM, PA — Roadwork continues on U.S. 1 and Street Road in Bensalem and left lanes will be closed overnight again next week, this time so median barriers and curbs can be removed.

The lanes will be closed on both U.S. 1 and Rt. 132 (Street Road) in both directions on Monday, Jan. 28, through Saturday, Feb. 1 from 8 p.m.-6 a.m.

  • U.S. 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and Rockhill Drive
  • Route 132 (Street Road) between Kingston Way and Old Lincoln Highway

The work is part of a project to rebuild widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of the highway in Bensalem.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays are expected to happen. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

This corridor improvement project is the first of three construction contracts to rebuild and widen U.S. 1. It will replace aging bridges and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of the City of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $97,352,764 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. All work on this project is expected to complete by the end of 2022.
