Fashion Show Will Turn Main St. into Catwalk

Main Street in the Downtown Historic District will become a sizzling runway of glamour Saturday when the city’s trendy downtown boutiques debut selections from their fall designer collections at eight shows starting at 2 p.m. and continuing through 10 p.m.

Guests are invited to sip a cocktail and munch on hors d’oeuvres while taking a front row seat for a comfortable view of the eclectic clothing and accessories of the season for men and women.

As a nod to “New York Fashion Week,” The Downtown Bethlehem Association and Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce have partnered for this inaugural  ”Bethlehem Fall Fashion Event,” showcasing the trendy wears of 10 of the city’s unique shops.

Some 20 models will take to the runway set up on a “closed-to-vehicular traffic” strip from Main and Broad streets to Walnut Street. Rain won’t be a factor, as the event will be undercover, if necessary.

Each boutique is offering 50 advance special purchase VIP tickets that include a souvenir bag and refreshments. General admission is $10 per show and a full-show pass is $50.

“This is a great event,“ said Kara Johnson, DBA assistant manager. ”Bring your mothers, daughters, girlfriends and spouses, for something different,” she enthused.

A cash bar and concession by Stations Café will offer libations and refreshments.  As an added feature, Brownstone Design Group Inc. will offer designer pieces from furniture to fabrics and tiles.

A portion of the show proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  And the models, chosen from a casting call, will be judged by professionals for an opportunity to win a one-year contract and portfolio from Hayman Talent.

Fiat of the Lehigh Valley is the title sponsor.

Advance VIP tickets can be purchased at the boutiques featured in the runway shows.
