Sands Security Officers Vote to Unionize

Report: Casino president says decision will be fought.

Security officers at the Resort Bethlehem voted Thursday to unionize and the casino is planning to contest the legality of that decision, The Morning Call reports in this story.

The vote to form a local under the Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association was 51-35 in favor, according to the story. Casino President Robert DeSalvio said he plans to contest that decision with the National Labor Relations Board.

According to its website, LEEBA is a New York-based organization that currently represents security officers in the public and private sector including the New York City Department of Environmental Protection police and supervisors who for the federal Transportation Security Administration at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York.
