YMCA Tips Off Spring Youth Travel Basketball in Bethlehem
From a Brand Partner: RCY travel basketball teams learn values of health, teamwork, cooperation and community in regional competition

BETHLEHEM, PA — River Crossing YMCA has announced the opening of enrollment for RCY travel basketball leagues this spring. The Lehigh Valley region includes Easton, Bethlehem and Slate Belt (Pen Argyl) branch teams.
Following the success of recent “Jr. Sixers” travel basketball leagues, RCY Sports is keeping momentum going with the spring travel basketball league. Designed for boys and girls in grades 6-9, this new league combines skill development, teamwork and regional competition in a community focused YMCA environment.
“RCY Sports focuses on learning the game, as well as learning to communicate and cooperate as a team,” shared Kevon Allen, Easton/Phillipsburg branch director for River Crossing YMCA. “Our program emphasizes the development of important life skills, along with ball skills. Understanding what it means to win and lose as a team, with positive sports conduct, helps our youth navigate future competitive environments, not all of which occur in-game.”
Travel basketball teams, grades 6-7 and 8-9, respectively, practice twice a week or once a week along with a regional game. Each team will face at least one other River Crossing YMCA branch team during April and May, with the season culminating in a tournament at the Doylestown branch on June 6. Every player receives an official team jersey as part of the registration fee. Team locations include Easton, Bethlehem, Fairless Hills, Doylestown, Quakertown, Pen Argyl (Slate Belt branch) and Flemington in NJ (Deer Path branch). For more information, readers can visit the Y’s spring leagues webpage and Bethlehem area families can register online today! Registration closes March 22.
