Free Lecture Series Resumes Sept. 20 at Harcum College

Wharton expert on 'Meaningful Work' kicks off new series aimed at cracking the "Science of Success".

Bryn Mawr, PA - August 10, 2016 - The popular Harcum College Free Lecture Series resumes in September 2016 on the theme "The Science of Success." Experts representing a range of areas will offer a variety of
strategies toward achieving more success in the professional and personal arenas. The lectures are free of charge and open to the public.

Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 4 p.m. - "The Meaning of Meaningful Work." - Robert W. Rebele, MAPP

Robert "Reb" Rebele will explore recent research on careers as important sources of financial, social, and psychological rewards to support values and goals. He believes that workplaces can become hubs of
community, fostering valued relationships, and that jobs can resonate with identity and the kinds of people employees seek to be. Rebele is a researcher for Wharton People Analytics and teaches in the Master of
Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program at the University of Pennsylvania. His research and consulting projects bring behavioral science and research into the world of work to drive better employee experiences and organizational outcomes, most recently at Google, JetBlue, Acumen, Warby Parker, and Teach for America.

Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 4 p.m. - "Emotional Intelligence and Why Your E.Q. Matters" -- Heather Uczynski, MA, LP

An executive coach and licensed psychologist, Heather Uzcynski will present a program on "Emotional Intelligence and Why Your E.Q. Matters." Emotional intelligence (E.Q. as opposed to I.Q.) is often more
important in the workplace than job knowledge or expertise because it has to do with getting along with other people. Those with a high E.Q. have the ability to manage their feelings so they are expressed appropriately and effectively. Uczynski is an expert in the field of emotional intelligence and specializes in the productive resolution of conflict in the workplace.

An expert panel will examine food choices and dietary trends to help you feel more energetic and, ultimately, experience a greater sense of well being at work and at home.

Tuesday, April 11, 4 p.m. – “Managing Conflict” – Dr. Stephen Treat, DMin, MFT

Conflict is for most of us an inevitable part of life, but Dr. Steve Treat says it needs to be managed in order to be at our best, regardless of whether the setting is personal, professional, or educational. Whatever the source or nature of the conflict, Dr. Treat has helped hundreds of individuals and organizations create a more productive and less stressful environment by helping them manage their conflict and learn practical ways to stave off crippling future conflicts. He is CEO Emeritus for the Council for Relationships in Philadelphia.

Pre-registration is expected at harcum.edu/lecture.
All events will be held in the Strauss Family Rotunda of the Charles H. Trout Library on the Bryn Mawr Campus, 750 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr. A question-and-answer period and light refreshments will follow each presentation.
