Gladwyne Free Library Reopening Saturday

Check out all the renovations and accessibility improvements at the grand reopening.

The Gladwyne Free Library will hold a grand reopening ceremony this weekend to celebrate the roughly $2 million in renovations to the library.

The event will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at the library, 362 Righters Mill Road, Gladwyne.

Attendees will get to tour the library and ride in the newly installed elevator.

The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 1:15 p.m.

The extensive project included adding the elevator, which required wall and roof modification to accommodate the elevator, installing security cameras and lighting, a new young adult section, making certain areas Americans with Disabilities Act compliant, and more.

The project also creates a more efficient workspace for staff, improved landscaping and parking, RFID technology for self-checkout, security and inventory control, and upgraded data communication wiring and cabling, according to the project's frequently asked question page.

Part of the renovations were funded by a $500,000 Keystone Grant to be used specifically for the library's renovations.
