Police Blotter: Bryn Mawr Resident Interrupts Burglar in Kitchen

On Tuesday afternoon, Lower Merion Township police reported to news media incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Burglary: A homeowner from the 1200 block of Ridgewood Avenue in Bryn Mawr came home about 1:10 p.m. Friday and found an unfamiliar man in her kitchen, police said.

She fled the house and called police, and soon the burglar drove away in a gold Mercury sedan. Officers gave chase but lost the car in Bala Cynwyd, police said.

The burglary did not injure or threaten the homeowner. She described him as a 5-foot-10 light-skinned man in baggy clothing. A Kindle reading device and two computers were stolen, police said.

Public intoxication: John Burke, 22, of Georgetown, MA, was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Saturday by the on the 1000 block of Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr.

Burglary: Sometime Friday through Sunday, someone forced open a front door, breaking the frame, at a house on the 1200 block of Pinewood Road in Villanova. A $1,500 47-inch television was stolen.

Public intoxication: Thomas Gallagher, 23, of Wall, NJ, was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Sunday at the in Rosemont.

Public intoxication: James Pizzo, 21, of Staten Island, NY, was arrested about 2:20 a.m. on the 1000 block of Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr.

Public intoxication, underage drinking, fake ID: Taylor Schumacher, 20, of Rockville, MD, was arrested about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday at in Bryn Mawr. Police said he tried to enter the bar several times with false identification and became combative with staff when refused entry.
