Police Blotter: Jewelry Stolen, Citations For Public Intoxication

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Tuesday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the past week:

Retail theft: Two heavyset black women were seen on surveillance taking a $10,000 white gold pin with blue diamonds from in Bryn Mawr about 12:30 p.m. Aug. 30, police said. One distracted the clerk while the other pocketed the jewelry, and they left together on foot before the theft was discovered.

Public intoxication: Between 1 and 2 a.m. Sept. 2, police in Bryn Mawr cited the following men for public intoxication:

- Christopher Gates, 19, of Dedham, MA, was also charged with disorderly conduct, underage drinking and false identification on the 700 block of West Lancaster Avenue.

- Bryan McCue, 20, of the 300 block of Wyldhaven Road in Bryn Mawr was also charged with underage drinking after being cited outside .

- Bilal Shaukat, 20, of Orlando, FL, was found on the 700 block of West Lancaster Avenue with a fake ID, police said. He was charged with false identification and underage drinking in addition to public intoxication.

- Kevin McKernan, 24, of Ellicott City, MD, was cited after being found lying on a sidewalk on the unit block of North Roberts Road.
