Series of Car Thefts Prompts Warning from Lower Merion Police

There have been several recent thefts.

Through an electronic alert system, the Police Department reminded residents Monday to beware of making their vehicles vulnerable to thefts, several of which have occurred in the past few days.

"Most of these thefts took place during the early morning and late evening hours and involved unlocked vehicles," according to the alert. "In a few incidents force was used to gain entry. Residents are reminded when parking their vehicle(s) to choose a well lighted area, lock all doors and remove any items of value."

Residents should report anything suspicious by calling 911 or 610-649-1000, the department's non-emergency line.
