SPRING WOODLAND EPHEMERAL WILDFLOWER WALK

Led by Maggie S. Knapp, Horticulturist and Ephemeral Enthusiast

Celebrate the coming of spring with a tour of the ephemeral
wildflowers at Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens. Spring ephemerals are a special
group of woodland wildflowers that bloom before the canopy trees “leaf-out” to
take advantage of early spring’s sunlight before competition begins in earnest.
The group includes such beloved plants as trillium, trout lilies, hepatica,
Virginia bluebells, and lady’s slippers, to name just a few.
