Women Jailed for Running Fake Dental Practice
The pair operated out of a Bryn Mawr dental office after hours.

Two women have been sentenced to jail for posing as a dentist and dental assistant and performing procedures on patients after hours at a Bryn Mawr dental office.
Cheryl A. Laing and Jessica Gullickson, both of Broomall, were sentenced Monday to two to 23 months in jail, four years probation, 200 hours of community service and $1,000 fines, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. They also were ordered to pay restitution of $5,100 to four patients.
Laing was a dental assistant and Gullickson a receptionist at Smilz 4 Life on Old Lancaster Road in Bryn Mawr. But after hours Laing posed as a dentist, with Gullickson acting as her assistant, performing dental procedures that neither was legally trained or permitted to perform, the Inquirer said. Among the procedures the women performed were root canals and tooth extractions.
The two women pleaded guilty in July to theft by deception, recklessly endangering another person, and unauthorized practice of dentistry, the Inquirer said.
