2 Arrested In Connection With Mt Airy SEPTA Conductor Shooting

Two men were arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred on Friday, May 10 at the Carpenter Lane SEPTA station.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — SEPTA and Philadelphia police said two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of a SEPTA conductor in Mt. Airy last month.

Authorities said Jemil Wylie and Donel Mills were arrested Thursday morning.

The pair is accused of shooting a 57-year-old SEPTA conductor at about 3:27 p.m. Friday, May 10 at the Carpenter Lane train station on the Chestnut Hill West regional rail line.

The conductor was letting passengers off the train when two men, allegedly Wylie and Mills, came up to them and demanded their money, police said.

The conductor was trying to get back inside the train when they were shot in the hip, police said.

Wylie, 20 of Burlington, New Jersey, has been charged with criminal attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, firearms crimes, and related crimes, court records show.

Mills, 23, of Upper Darby, is already in police custody on a domestic assault charge out of Delaware County, according to court documents.

Wylie is slated for a July 9 preliminary hearing, court records show.

Mills is set to appear for a July 3 formal arraignment in Delaware County.
