For 20 years, Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia’s dual mission has supported public school students on the path to college and trained outstanding college students for education careers. Through six years of academic enrichment and college preparation, Breakthrough changes students’ academic trajectories and supports them along the path to four-year colleges. Simultaneously, Breakthrough builds the next generation of excellent teachers through competitive recruitment, research-based training, and coaching from master teachers. To date, we have supported the college going aspirations of more than 1,000 students, 80% of whom were the first in their family to attend college. We have also provided teacher training to more than 500 college students, 75% of whom have pursued education as a career.
