Arrest Made In Carjacking, Armed Robbery Of Temple Students

Authorities say Robert Sherrill, 26, has been charged with robbery, carjacking and related offenses in conjunction with two armed robberies.

An arrest has been made in conjunction with a carjacking and armed robbery of two Temple University students earlier this month.

Authorities say Robert Sherrill, 26, has been charged with robbery, carjacking and related offenses in conjunction with two armed robberies near campus.

Philadelphia Police said the arrest was made thanks to tips that followed the release of a surveillance video.

Sherill is one of two suspects wanted in conjunction with the alleged crimes.

According to police, on Oct. 15 Sherill and another suspect approached a 21-year-old student who was leaving a store at 10th & Susquehanna Streets. Armed with a handgun, they attempted to force the Temple student into his car, police said. “When the complainant refused, the males forced the complainant to the ground taking his keys and cellular phone,” police said.

Sherill and the other suspect then fled in the victim’s 2005 Cadillac CTS, police said. A few hours later, a 24-year-old male told police he was walking on North 15th Street when he was approached by the two suspects, one of which was armed with a handgun.

One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and began going through the his pockets. The suspects took a cell phone, keys, and a wallet containing with a Pennsylvania drivers license and two Citizens bank debit cards, police said.

There were no shots fired and no injuries were reported, police said.
