Athletic Fields Improvements Gain CHCA Approval

The Springside Chestnut Hill Academy athletic fields project got the ok from the community association after some neighbor concerns.

After neighbor concerns delayed the approval of the athletic field improvements, the Chestnut Hill Community Association was able to vote, unanimously, in favor of the project at Thursday’s Executive Committee meeting.

At the meeting, the board suggested that the school representatives and the neighbors work together on an agreement before the association would approve the variances requested by the school.

Some of those neighbors, including Peter and Nancy Marvin, who spoke at the last meeting, came Thursday night- this time to voice their approval.

“We both appreciate it and all the four families that are near neighbors appreciate how hard they worked, and the school really rose to the occasion. We were really concerned two weeks ago and it was a very positive process,” Nancy Marvin said.

The agreement included that the construction would be screened from the driveways and the neighboring properties, that the planned dugout would be encased in wood and not cinderblock or concrete, and that the neighbors would be notified if any design changes were coming before the design review board.

The Marvins announced that they would also revoke their formal objection with the city zoning board.

With all side agreeing, the Executive Committee voted in favor of the variances, including the provisions in the neighbor agreement.
