Attempted Theft on Germantown Avenue

An unknown woman attempted to steal over $400 in merchandise from a Chestnut Hill shop, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to reports, the unknown woman entered Artisans on the Avenue in Chestnut Hill and allegedly attempted to leave the store with a $425 red sweater in her purse.

An employee of the store followed the woman for several blocks before she reportedly dropped the sweater and got on a nearby SEPTA bus. The sweater was recovered.
