"JAZZ AT THE MEETINGHOUSE" PRESENTS: An Evening With Paula Johns

This Friday evening, March 22, The Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust proudly presents an evening of jazz featuring “La Chanteuse de Jazz” - Philadelphia’s own Paula Johns. An accomplished cabaret singer and jazz vocalist, Johns is often compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone - but Paula brings her own distinct panache to each song she sings. Listeners will be treated to timeless lyrics that will tug at your heartstrings one moment, and then will make you fall off your seat with laughter the next.

Ms. Johns will be accompanied by her superb trio featuring keyboardist Aaron Graves, bassist Madison Rast and drummer/percussionist Grant MacAvoy. More information about Ms. Johns is available at www.paulajohns.com.

Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. in the historic 1770 Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse (6119 Germantown Avenue). General admission: $15 for adults, $10 for college students with valid ID. Children’s admission: $5 (with a paying adult). Snack sales and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the historic site. Please note that the site is not wheelchair accessible; access requires the navigation of several stairs. Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust, a proud member of Historic Germantown, is the nonprofit organization that cares for the historic 1770 Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse, an enduring symbol of the first European settlers of Germantown and their search for freedom of worship. The historic Meetinghouse, located at 6119 Germantown Avenue, is open by appointment and on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 12-4:00 p.m. from May-October.
