The Caribbean Jazz Band Debut at the UU Jazz Vespers -- in August
Sherry Wilson Butler coming in September!

The Caribbean Jazz band, a re-organization of a previous ensemble that included several members of the Teddy Pendergrass band, made its opening debut last Sunday evening, August 17th at the Jazz Vespers at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration in East Mt. Airy.
The Caribbean Jazz Band consists of Greg Moore and Ron Howerton on congas and percussion; Carl Grossman on guitar, Marc Johnson on keyboards, steel drum and wind instruments, Charles Beasley Bass, and Jeffery Johnson drums. They had the audience dancing in the pews to the sounds of Caribbean, including samba and jazz standards with a Caribbean flair.
Jazz Vespers are held at 4:30 pm on the third Sunday of each month. The next Jazz Vespers, held on Sept. 21st at 4:30, will feature vocalist (and Philadelphia jazz legend) Sherry Wilson Butler. There is a ten dollar donation requested and a reception afterward with refreshments. Restoration Church is located at 6900 Stenton Avenue (at the corner of Gorgas Lane) in Philadelphia. For more information, email: uucr-jazzvespers@verizon.net or call: 215-910-2404. For more information on the church, visit http://www.uurestoration.us/index.php
