The Caribbean Jazz Band is playing at the UUCR Jazz Vespers this Sunday
The Caribbean Jazz band, a re-organization of a previous ensemble that included several members of the Teddy Pendergrass band, is playing this Sunday March 15, 2015, at 4:30 PM at the Jazz Vespers at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration (UUCR) in East Mt. Airy.
The Caribbean Jazz Band consists of Greg Moore and Ron Howerton on congas and percussion; Mike Cummings on guitar, Marc Johnson on keyboards and steel drum, Charles Beasley on bass, Jeffery Johnson on drums and Ricky Tate, Jr. - Alto Saxophone.
They debuted last year at the Jazz Vespers at UUCR and had the audience dancing in the pews to the sounds of Caribbean, including samba and jazz standards with a Caribbean flair.

There is a ten dollar donation requested for the Jazz Vespers and a reception afterward with refreshments. Restoration Church is located at 6900 Stenton Avenue (at the corner of Gorgas Lane) in Philadelphia. For more information, email: uucr-jazzvespers@verizon.net
There will be no jazz vespers service in April but jazz vespers service will continue in May with vocalist Gaille Hunter and pianist Andy Trackman - May 17, 2015 @ 4:30 PM.

On April 18, a Saturday, at 7 pm, UUCR will be hosting a concert featuring the internationally renowned Monnette Sudler, on guitar and vocals, and her quartet called “Ladies Night Out.” The quartet includes Lynn Riley on saxophone and flute, Noriko Kamo or Organ and Luciana Padmore on drums. The concert is part of a City-wide jazz fest for the official jazz appreciation month in April. The cost for the concert is $20.00.
