There is more to preparing for college than stocking up on school supplies and buying a laptop. Students planning to enter college this fall can take steps over the summer that will make their lives less hectic when classes begin.
On July 8, Community College of Philadelphia’s Pathfinders — volunteers working behind the scenes to help increase local college completion rates by mentoring and guiding students — will learn from the experts what those steps are, and why they are important.
This interactive workshop is free and open to anyone in the region — including parents, incoming students, and community and professional leaders. The discussion begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center, Room P1-05, located in the Pavilion Building on 17th Street south of Spring Garden Street. Light refreshments will be served. RSVPs are requested and should be sent to Diane Kae, Manager, Student Outreach and Recruitment, at dkae@ccp.edu.

Community College of Philadelphia launched the Pathfinders program in April to assist Philadelphia’s unsung heroes who are working in their neighborhoods to help first-generation college students navigate the enrollment process. Each session features College experts, and star students or alumni who will share their experiences that led to their success.
Throughout the year, Pathfinders will have the opportunity to attend free workshops, and receive materials that enable them to mentor and guide individuals in their community to a productive path through education. We would like to extend to you an invitation to become a member and join us on July 8. Please bring your questions about admission, financial aid and the enrollment process, and we’ll help you find experts who can help.
