The Country Girl ...an American Classic

April 8 through April 24 at The Stagecrafters

“THE COUNTRY GIRL” GRACES THE STAGECRAFTERS THEATER

This compelling drama by Clifford Odets, written in 1949, opens on April 8, 2016 at The Stagecrafters. The narrative depicts the strivings of three people deeply intermeshed in a love/dependency triangle. A young, visionary theater director Bernie Dodd, determined to give a second chance to once-acclaimed, but now washed up alcoholic actor Frank Elgin, finds himself in head-to-head confrontation with Frank’s devoted and protective wife Georgie. This moving tale of loss and retrieval is rendered with deep insight into the human psyche … in one critic’s words: “Here is real and exciting theatre, alive and healthy, and greatly rewarding.” (New York Newsday).
